Mission & Outreach
One of the most important values is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries and missions. We would love for you to join us as we strive to be the hands and feet of Christ.
In Matthew 25, Jesus tells us that when we feed the hungry, we do so for Him. FUMC works to feed the hungry in our community in many ways. From a Blessing Box that is available at any time, to filling backpacks for children, and serving a hot breakfast weekly, FUMC works to feed the hungry in the community. Feed the Children Backpacks
FUMC collects non perishable food items with easy open lids and that require little or no preparation required. A group gathers weekly to fill the backpacks and make them available for children to take home on the weekends. Contact Asa Whitaker for details. Community Breakfast

Blessing Box
The Blessing Box sits on the front lawn of the church. What started as an idea and vision turned into a blessing for the entire community in more ways than anyone expected. A simple green box is filled with food, personal care items, socks, gloves, and whatever anyone has to give. It is always open for those who need items. The box is filled from donations made by both community and church members. People drop by at all times to fill or receive items. This mission has spread beyond the church members as you will often see a new face putting something in the box. In an anonymous way people are taking what they need, giving what they can and in all things being blessed. – Secret Pals assist Bennie Burks, our visitation director, by providing supplies for Ms. Bennie to distribute to our members who are homebound or in nursing homes. Contact Bennie Burks for details.
–SONshine ministry distributes flowers in area hospitals and nursing homes. They are always in need of bud vases and would love help spreading SONshine in our community. |
Service
There are many opportunities for service in the life of the church. No matter what your gifts and talents there is a place for you to plug in and become involved.
Music & Drama God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music and drama ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. Still others get involved in drama. These volunteers are an important part of the life of our church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God. If you would be interested in serving in this way, contact the church office, 870-793-3803, for more details. Media & Technology Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. We have members serving as sound technicians at all 3 of our services and at special events. We’re working on providing audio and video devotions and an app for members, and we’re looking to expand our media team. If you’re interested in serving in this capacity, contact the church office, 870-793-3803, for more details. Church Mice The church mice are a group who come together to care for our historic building and campus. They do everything from cleaning out closets, to painting, small handyman jobs, and electrical work. You don’t have to possess any specific talent or skill to come out and lend a hand. Contact Alex Roofe to volunteer. Hospitality The hospitality team organizes greeters for our Sunday Morning Services. It’s always nice to see a smiling face and be greeted with a warm hello. Greeters also help guests navigate the building and find where the need to go. |
